1. Meat First Recipe

Lamb meal and chicken meal are the first two ingredients in TLC Whole Life Dog Food, followed by oatmeal and chicken. Meal is preferred above just lamb and chicken because it has more protein. The Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO)  defines chicken meal as the dry rendered product of chicken flesh and skin WITHOUT including bones, feathers, head, feet, or intestines. It is just the meat and skin. Chicken is also 70% water and the rendering process leaves just the nutritious and protein-filled chicken meal. Just because chicken meal has more nutrients and protein does not mean that having chicken as the fourth ingredient is a bad thing. Chicken and lamb are both easy-to-digest proteins that support muscle and tissue development and give a healthy source of energy. 019f59a75dafb1ebc5b1396526533ff6d5310dab8b - Copy

TLC also includes salmon meal and salmon oil in their recipe for Whole Life Dog food. Salmon is an especially good source for Omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3’s are great for your dog’s heart, coat, and skin. Studies suggest that diets high in Omega-3’s and zinc are also beneficial for dogs like Gracie with Epilepsy. While they do not prevent or treat seizures, they can help in frequency and duration.

2. Nutritious Ingredients with several health benefits

The ingredients in TLC Whole Life Dog food supports intestinal health, strong hips and joints, healthier skin and coat, and protection against diabetes and obesity.

Enterococcus faecium, lactobacillus acidophilus, lactobacillus casei, and bifidobacterium thermophilum are all probiotics found in TLC Whole Life pet food. Probiotics contain good bacteria that support digestive health and protect against unhealthy organisms. TLC Whole Life Dog food also contains prebiotics, like mannan-oligosaccharides and chicory root extract, which feed the good bacteria found in probiotics.

TLC Whole Life Dog food contains natural glucosamine and chondroitin which provide the building blocks for strong hips and joints. TLC Pet Food has guaranteed levels of glucosamine and chondroitin. This is especially important to dogs, like the Siberian Husky, that are prone to hip dyspepsia. Other breeds prone to hip dyspepsia are the Newfoundland, Saint Bernard, Old English Sheepdog, Rottweiler, German Shepherd, Golden Retriever, Alaskan Malamute, Labrador Retriever, and Samoyed. However, any dog of any breed can develop this condition. 011b570d9249b58df5a5b16b7ce51a9836b9a3ec37
As I mentioned before, TLC Whole Life Dog Food contains salmon meal and salmon oil which are great sources of Omega-3’s. Omega-3’s are great for dog’s coat and skin. TLC Whole Life Dog food also has  flaxseed and lecithin which are also sources of Omega-3’s. Along with Omega-3’s, TLC Whole Life Dog food includes minerals, amino acids, and animal fats that support skin and coat health.

3. Natural Preservatives

TLC Whole Life Dog Food uses Vitamin E as a preservative. Vitamin E contains antioxidants that protects food against oxidation which would cause it to spoil. By using a natural preservative, TLC Pet Food provides your pets with the best possible product without having to add in artificial preservatives.01bf12f243ca7a69042fed1970a53710b6672ff892

4. Free of many common allergens

Corn, wheat, soy beans, and beef are four very common allergies found in dogs. To help protect dogs against these common allergens, TLC Whole Life Dog food does not include these ingredients in their recipe. Lamb and rice are often used to help dogs with food allergies, so TLC Pet Food includes these ingredients. TLC Whole Life Dog Food also contains quinoa and Vitamin C to support your dog’s immune system and protect against environmental allergies.

5. Free of artificial colors, artificial flavors, corn, wheat, and fillers

TLC Pet Food only provides your dog with the best possible ingredients, so they do not include any fillers or artificial colors or flavors in their dog food. Corn does not add good nutritional value to pet food and is not digestible as whole kernels, so TLC Pet Food leaves corn and corn meal out of their food. Wheat, another ingredient TLC Pet Food chooses to exclude, is a main ingredient in many dog foods. Not only is wheat a common allergen for dogs, but is also used to raise to protein value in many dog without using meat. Dogs’ main source of protein should ideally come from meat, not gluten, so TLC Pet Food provides your dog with a meat first diet. It is also suggested that epileptic dogs, like Gracie, should be on wheat free diets to lower the frequency of seizures.

6. The TLC Whole Life Herbal Pack

TLC Whole Life Dog Food contains the TLC Whole Life Herbal Pack in their recipe. The herbal pack includes a variety of herbs, fruits, and vegetables with many benefits for your dog. The TLC Whole Life Herbal Pack includes anise, apple, blueberries, cassia, carrots, cranberries, chicory root extract, flaxseed, ginger, horseradish, juniper, lecithin, quinoa, rosemary extract, sweet potato, tomato, thyme, yarrow, and yucca schidigera extract. Many of these herbs, veggies, and fruits are things I have looked into adding to Gracie’s food due to their great nutritional benefits, but now that we use TLC Pet Food I do not have to worry about adding it in! DSC_0085

7. Good for all life stages and sizes

TLC Whole Life Dog food is great for your dog from puppy hood to his senior years. This is something I especially love due to the gap in my dogs’ ages. Gracie is an 8 year old special needs dog, but still very healthy and active, and soon I will be adding 8 week old Echo to our pack. TLC Whole Life Dog Food will meet both Echo’s and Gracie’s needs. Balanced proteins and fats, calcium and phosphorous, which can all be found in TLC Whole Life Dog Food, are great for a growing puppy. Not only is TLC Whole Life Dog food high in Omega-3’s, Zinc, and wheat-free, which is ideal for Gracie’s Epilepsy, but it also promotes healthy joints, muscles, and organ health for an adult dog.011fb3724a1ccc89484dc9b8dc55d7d72fc69385c1

8. Delivers right to my door for free!

You can also have the food on automatic renewal so you will never forget to order it in time! 01b4c4bf1d1b469924e444fe51bf747a16d7722a1e

9. A company that cares

TLC Pet Food provides pet owners with high quality pet food delivered right to their door. They have great service and a great product at a great price. Not only is TLC Pet Food about quality product, service, and value, but they also support shelters and rescues through donating food and supporting events. Last month I wrote about an adopt-a-thon that TLC Pet Food sponsored. 24 dogs were adopted that day, along with 4 bunnies, 4 rats, and 4 cats. However, people put in applications for 95% of the adoptable dogs that attended the event. I have included a slideshow of photos from the event at the end of this post. TLC also cares about the environment- all TLC Pet Food containers and shipping materials are eco-friendly and recyclable.

10. Great online resources for pet owners!

The last thing I would like to share with you about TLC Pet Food is their wonderful online resources for pet owners. They have a blog with tips and advice, a new puppy guide, and a food calculator. Their website also goes more into the benefits of their food and treats for your pets. TLC Pet Food cares about their customers and wants the best for your pets.

    1. I had to stop using it due to an intolerance to Rosemary we found in Gracie. That prevents us from using a lot of foods and treats! I still think TLC is a good food, but because of Gracie’s health I had to stop using it. I still give Echo their biscuits though!

    2. For our current favorite foods, check out the pages Echo’s Favorite Products and Gracie’s Favorite Products. I try to keep both of those pages updated with what we are currently using and loving, since I do try out many different foods and products. TLC dog food is a good food, but like I said in my previous reply I did have to stop using it since Gracie cannot have rosemary.

    1. You are right-this is a post from when I was still a new blogger and did not know about disclaimers. I did not receive money from them, but I did receive dog food. Free product still requires a disclaimer. I am still in the process of editing old posts on my site. I will add a disclaimer to this one.

  2. I wouldn’t be able to feed this to my older dog Kitsune because of his food allergies, but glad that it sounds like it’s working well for Gracie!
